Possibility of Retaining Colombian Citizenship

We are hearing reports from some IPs that once the court process to remove the surrogate mother from the birth certificate concludes in Colombia they are able to retain the Colombian citizenship for their child.

Previously this was not possible and once the surrogate was removed the child lost Colombian citizenship. However, it seems that be renewing the passport in the home country embassy the citizenship could be retained. We are aware of one case where this has happened and will seek further information and post an update as more IPs standardise this process.
