Italy bans international surrogacy

In a tragic move, Italy has banned couples travelling abroad for surrogacy. Surrogacy has long been banned domestically but this is the first country to ban couples from doing this abroad (as far as we are aware).

It is unclear what the legal situation is for those Italians pregnant with a child abroad.
